34 weeks... 6 weeks to go!
The countdown to D-day begins, only a month and half left. Its still very surreal, I can't believe that soon we will have a baby with us all the time. I'm trying to enjoy every last moment of freedom and every last moment of SLEEP!
Here's an update photo on the belly along with another shot where Gerwyn thought he was being "artistic". So far I've gained a total of 24 pounds.
Birthday BBQ
Saturday Gerwyn threw me a little birthday BBQ to celebrate my big 35th. He made kalbi (did all the tenderizing himself!), bought helium balloons and invited a few of my favourite friends over for a little par-tay! Unfortunately I forgot about my camera for most of the night so the photos are sparse but it was a great evening and I even managed to stay up until 2 am!
Thanks to everyone who was able to join us (and for your deeleecious contributions,) and to my husband of course for walking through an entire mall with 40 helium balloons and denying all the little kids that came up to ask him if they could have one.

Happy Birthday to me! 35 and baby free....
Today I celebrated my 35th birthday. At midnight Gerwyn and our friend Christine sang me happy birthday. Then I woke up this morning to my breakfast waiting for me on the counter: freshly juiced apple/ginger juice, toast and strawberries and kiwi. For lunch, Saadia treated me to Il Fornello and then for dinner Gerwyn surprised me with reservations at Archeo, which was the restaurant where we got married. It was nice to see the place after our wedding and relive our memories there.
I also received many text messages, emails and voicemails throughout the day. Although I was just a bit depressed about turning 35, all the love and caring messages from everyone definitely made the transition a whole lot easier! Thanks everybody and happy birthday to me!

Congratulations Lawrence and Crystal
This weekend Gerwyn and I went to the wedding of one of his best friends, Lawrence. We joined them at The Manor in Kettleby, Ontario (which is very very far if you don't know,) on one of the hottest days of the year. It was a beautiful wedding and we enjoyed being part of their big day.
Today we met Lawrence and Crystal again for breakfast with a few other friends at the hotel and then we were off to start our baby registry. It was just as I had expected, long and exhausting. Its amazing how much crap you think you need. I tried to keep the list to just the necessities but when you have a salesperson following you around telling you why you need such and such and so and so, its hard not to agree. We went to two stores, Babies R-Us and also a store called Dearborn Baby that happened to be right next door to Gerwyn's mom's house. We managed to get most of it done and spend some time with his mom before finally heading home to relax. I'm seriously pooped!

The verdict is IN!
Can't you tell? Of course not, this is only her head. That's right, its a girl!
Not that we could tell of course. The technician got a good shot right in the you know where and we STILL couldn't tell if it was a girl or boy. Luckily she was a professional and pointed out all the pertinent parts.
This is baby girl at 32 weeks, only 8 more weeks to go. That means only 8 weeks of shopping time left! Dresses, here I come!
P.S. I don't know if you can tell from the photo but I have a feeling she has her daddy's lips, look at that pucker!

Happy Birthday Sooky-Yucky!
Yesterday was my sister's birthday and although I do not normally acknowledge such milestones in my blog, I recently found these photos in my mom's house as we were packing her up for her move and it IS my sister's big 4-0 so I thought I'd take a moment to mark the milestone. Its hard to believe looking at these cute photos that my sister was once a "kid". To me, she was always the bossy-know-it-all big sister that I followed around. When I first saw these photos I thought, "wow I don't even recognize her!" but then I realized that these were taken before I was born! I do however, recognize those clothes. I remember them quite fondly actually as I loved to wear dresses when I was small; who knew the dresses were never mine in the first place! (Good ol' immigrant parents, always knew how to stretch a dime!)Well, big sister, hope you have a happy birthday! Looking forward to your big move back to Toronto where your babysitting skills will finally be put to good use...

Cottage Weekend
Saturday my friend Christine and I headed to Mel and Norm's cottage on 3 mile lake near Muskoka. It was a beautiful 30 degree weekend and just what the doctor ordered. Unfortunately Gerwyn couldn't join us due to his work schedule but I managed to have plenty of fun sans husband et avec dog (in the form of Kahlua) for the weekend. We basked in the sun, pigged out on lots of bbq, watched fireworks (the burning schoolhouse!) and I even managed to take a dip in the cold lake. (It was actually refreshing during the heat of the early morning.) Sally and Ron joined us for the day on Saturday (too bad they had to leave before the fireworks!)
It was great to get out of the hot city for a couple of days. Thanks Mel and Norm and to Mel's family for hosting us!
