6 month check up

Marley recently went for her 6 month check up and turns out our dainty lady is a tad bit underweight. I had a feeling this might be the case when all of her (younger) peers seemed to be outgrowing her. During this past visit, she weighed in at 15.1 lbs. This is only the 20th percentile for weight. All of her other measurements were great, so now its time to pack on the pounds. Although I was looking forward to reducing the night feeds and trying to get her to sleep through the night, looks like waking up every 2 hours will have to continue for awhile. Oh how I miss the days of 10 hour sleep...

Rhinaris

This is a post about one of my "can't live without" products. Its called Rhinaris and its a nose lubricating gel. I've actually been using it since university and just yesterday when I noticed I've almost run out, did I realize that I can't live without it. When your environment is dry and nosebleeds are a problem, or when you're on a plane and your nose feels exceptionally dry, Rhinaris is the perfect solution. It feels very cool and refreshing as soon as you put it on. And it keeps my nostrils moisturized which means less nosebleeds. As someone with major nose sensitivities, its the one thing which makes me and my nose feel more secure.

Time to go to the drugstore and get a refill!

Marley and Jacen

Here is a photo of Marley and Sally's son Jacen. He is only four months old and yet they are almost the same size! It was just too cute not to post...

Visiting Grams

Friday Susie and I took the kids to visit my grams in her nursing home. Sooz hadn't seen my grandma in ages and I was curious to see if she would remember her. Of course when we got there, grams didn't even know who I was until I told her, so it wasn't surprising to see she didn't remember Susie. But eventually I jogged her memory and she was happy to meet her son and know that she had gotten married. All the other grandmothers loved the babies too. I've heard that babies are good therapy for seniors and I think that's true judging by the swarm of ol' ladies hovering around us.

After a quick visit, grams was off to Karaoke class so we left and headed to ToysRus to pick up a few items from their baby sale.

Dinner at Fork and Spoon

Saturday one of Gerwyn's clients kindly treated us to dinner at an all you can eat Asian restaurant in Oakville. It was a long trek out there but it was worth every minute, the food was deeleecious! Usually all you can eat places are not that great but every single item I tried was sooo good! That included all kinds of sushi, sashimi, thai noodles, stir fried meats and soups and salads. It was great to meet Gerwyn's client and as it turned out, we realized that Gerwyn is distantly related to his client's wife! They had actually been to Gerwyn's mom's house for a party years ago! What a small world. Of course, now that they are "related" his client will definitely be expecting some special treatment. After a dinner like that, I think he deserves it!

Happy 6 month birthday!

Today Ms. Marley is officially 6 months old! I can't believe how quickly time flies. Some of my favourite Marley moments at this stage:
- how she puts her arms up and lifts her head when I go to pick her up now
- how she bounces up and down and smiles when she sees us
- how she puts her tongue out to lick the inside of daddy's grapes
- how she grabs your arm and pulls it closer if she wants something in your hand
- how she rolls over as soon as you take off her diaper
- when she laughs after letting out an explosion in her pants
- when she puts her arms around my neck to give me a hug

I have a feeling she will move on to walking earlier than normal as I can tell that she is just itching to start exploring the world on her own. I have to keep reminding myself to take it all in while she is at each stage because before you know it, its over and she'll be graduating from university... YIKES!

Elijah's 1st birthday party!

Saturday we celebrated my nephew Elijah's 1st birthday at Shilla Restaurant. My brother and sister in law outdid themselves with a bouncy castle for the kids, creative decorations and of course, plenty of food. Everyone had a great time and I enjoyed Carol's homemade birthday cake by eating four slices. (Yes, I'm back to eating sugar again now that Marley's eczema seems to be under control with the Big Carrot's Calendula cream...)
It was quite an affair! Afterwards we came home and I enjoyed a nice cat nap and then we rented a movie "Love and Other Drugs". I really liked it, although it was definitely an "R" rated movie (lots of boobs and butts). A nice way to spend a rainy evening in.

Bedhead

This is how Marley woke up this morning. In case you can't tell, she wasn't quite 100% awake yet when I took the photos...
